Letter of May 30, 1867 from William Lovett to Dr. Thomas Flint, one of the Flint-Bixby partners, concerning legal case that was settled in D.C. Letter of April 5, 1868 from William Buckley to Llewellyn Bixby concerning payments made by William Lovett-former owner and manager of Coast Line. Letter of May 14, 1868 from William Buckley to Dr. Thomas Flint regarding giving Col. J.J. Warner a pass for the stage coach. Warner was a commissioner involved with dividing Flint's ranch in Los Angeles.

William Edward Lovett, a native of Beverly, Mass., was born Oct. 3, 1823. He was a cabin boy, a lawyer, a California State Senator from Monterey and San Benito counties, a Calif. gubernatorial candidate, Indian agent, Asst. U.S. Attorney General. He also co-owned a stage coach company and was active in the Temperance Movement. Before coming to Calif. in 1849 he spent many years in Mazatlan, Mexico where he became fluent in Spanish.
